Metal forming is one of the most important production processes. This process is divided into different sections that are sheet forming, extrusion, forging, rolling and others. Sheets forming, Due to widespread applications, is very important.

Metal Forming Research Group has focused most of its activities on modern methods of sheet forming such as shaping with Hydroforming method and forming with hot gas. Because of existing hydroforming equipped laboratories in this group, so far, many achievements in the field of hydroforming is obtained. Specialty of this group members are in the fields of mechanical engineering, metallugy and materials.

Due to successful industry projects in this group, creating strong links between industry and university to resolve industrial problems and promote students and university from theoretical discussions to resolve industrial problems are important targets of this group.

Abilities and activites of this group is as follow:
- Tips (Guidance), Consultation and implementation of industrial projects
- Developing technical knowledge of production modern methods for industry and university
- Doing industrial projects in scale of laboratory and industrial
- Consultation and guidance of graduate students projects
- Offering specialized courses for industry and university
- Study production of specific parts with modern technology
- Optimization of fire Station capsule formats which is 1 kg
- Optimization of tube hydroforming process with using a fluid fluctuating pressure
- Obtaining technical knowledge of hydroforming and tension of cone liners
- Production of copper funnel which is containing thickness gradient with hydroforming method
- Optimization of production process of aircraft parts with hydroforming method
